Dehypnotize Yourself!

how hypnotherapy can help to de-hypnotize you - and why that's important!
by Margit Herburger

Most people come to a hypnotherapist looking to be hypnotized in order to make changes in their lives. They want to convince themselves they no longer crave nicotine, or they no longer desire "junk food" ... or they want to gain confidence, overcome a fear or phobia, or learn to relax.
Ironically, what most people need to do is de-hypnotizethemselves. The main difficulty is they've already "hypnotized" themselves into having a problem in the first place. The fact of the matter is we're constantly talking to ourselves. Oh, not out loud - no, I mean, via the thoughts we're thinking, the things we tell ourselves.
And often those thoughts aren't even our own. They've originated with a parent, teacher, trusted friend, or some other influential figure in our lives - often from our childhood. "Oh, you're so clumsy." "Don't be such a dummy." "We could hear you singing off-key clear across the room." "You can't wear that, it makes you look fat." "Can't you do anything right?!"
Our subconscious mind is great at helping us reinforce our beliefs - even the ones we don't want on some level, and yet believe on another. "I'm a failure" will alert your subconscious that it "should" make sure you sabotage your own efforts and fail at whatever you're doing. "I'm not worthy" will shut down your jerk-detecting-radar so you end up in a relationship with someone who treats you as less-than. "I look like a big lump" will result in cravings for fast-food guaranteed to blow your diet.
How long have you been telling yourself the messages which are keeping you from your goals? Think back, track your thoughts - and I guarantee you'll be surprised at how long you've been running the same "programs" in your mind on auto-pilot. Keep a tally of how many times in a day a negative thought pops into your head.
And here's where your inner conflict lies. You say you want to succeed in your new business venture - and part of you does, of course it does! But at the same time, another part of your mind whispers "oh, it'll never work. This will fail, just like all the other things I've tried." Or at the 1st tiny obstacle, you'll think "I knew it! I knew I'd screw up somehow!" With the two messages juxtaposed, you end up making the "wrong" decisions or giving up... and this becomes more "proof" for the negative message.
You've already been hypnotizing yourself for years! Unfortunately, you've been running "programs" which have resulted in what-you-don't-want. Change will come naturally when you de-hypnotize those old beliefs and install new programs - or thoughts - so your subconscious and conscious mind are in alignment. Then you'll be able to achieve your goals.
You may wonder, after all those years of "negative hypnotism"... will it take just as long to install the new beliefs? The answer, you'll be pleased to learn, is absolutely not! The subconscious mind is a wonderful and obedient facet of ourselves. Like a willing servant, when we give it a new set of instructions, it says "oh, okay, coming right up!"
I think that's one of the reasons hypnotherapy is such a powerful tool. Change can be simple and lasting. Once the new program is installed, you simply test it to make sure you haven't missed any aspect you want to include... and that's it. You're good to go. No long drawn out processes, reliving traumas, or spending years in therapy!
I'll say it again: you can change your life simply and easily. Hypnotherapy can de-hypnotize your old belief systems and install a set of "instructions" to your subconscious mind that will help you achieve congruency on all levels ... which will allow you to move forward!

Medical QiGong ....What is it really...

QiGong is a Lifestyle and a Healing-modality

Dr . Oz, Oprah's favorite MD, was asked out of all the health practices that one could do, what was the one practice that he would choose and recommend people practice to stay healthy. His response was that if you want to be healthy and live to 100, do Qigong. Dr. Oz added that Qigong reverses the aging process. Learn the secrets and the correct way to practice qigong for physical, mental emotional and spiritual health by working with a qualified Practitioner.
What will a healthy routine look like...
In my classes I teach a one hour routine that follows the elemental cycle, cleanses, purges and tonifies all the organs, purges emotional imbalance, and teaches mindfulness meditation.
People then take home what felt best to them and practice the movement during the week.
I am often asked, why the modality I use for Healing and Movement Classes is called Medical QiGong.
It is specifically called Medical QiGong because every manipulation, every movement and every touch is geared towards Organ and Meridian Balance and Health. We practice healing from Syndrome vs Symptom approach.

Symptom: various abnormal manifestations of a disease such as headache, fever,
sweating, and thirst.
Syndrome: a generalization of various symptoms and signs occurring in a certain stage
of a disease, or the pathological, comprehensive manifestations formed by the
pathogenesis, the location of the disease, the nature of the disease, and the relations
between the pathogenic factors and the anti-pathogenic qi. Syndrome reflects the
nature of a disease in an overall way.

Syndrome based healing looks for the source not the symptom and the treatment then happens on a multilevel format:
Diagnosis, Healing sessions on the table including massage, cupping, guasha, acupressure, meridian therapy (all inclusive TCM), Homework for client - movements, meditations, herbal tinctures, selfhealing protocols etc.

Holiday Stress ... Really necessary?

Christmas wishes to all my clients!
As I take a look backward for this year, I realize it has been a hard one for myself and most of my clients.
It seems we are pushing ourselves more, we are stressing ourselves out more and most importantly our Body and Mind is saying I cant keep up anymore. Depression and Anxiety was the most common issue people came to work with me - and scarily enough ALL ages, children as young as 8 and seniors well into their 70's came to find help with the increasing loss of wellbeing, with anxiety, fear and panic attacks, with not understanding how to deal with depression that has crept into them and refuses to leave and with being in a constant state of feeling like a step behind where they think they should be....
All of these clients have thought me even more the importance of my core believe: IF YOU DONT TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF - YOU HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE TO OTHERS!
We cannot change the world - heck we cant even change our own world...mothers, fathers, children or husbands, but we can change how the world affects us - and my clients this year showed me that only deepest respect for ones own inner wellbeing, effort to learn to be at peace with things out of our control and to learn to be our best supporter is the only thing that will carry us through the years to come!
I wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season - however it shows up!
My love and wishes for Wellbeing
My present for you:
up until the New Year, I offer a session at half price for anybody who feels overwhelmed when thinking about the days and weeks to come (after all the holiday season is also one of the biggest triggers of depression and fear!)

Weight...too much?

Confession from a Therapist….
On a recent workshop around family patterns, one of my dear colleagues and friends asked our teacher “how come that most of the light workers (a much nicer way to call our profession…bringing light to clients) have such a hard time with money and abundance…why is there a pattern for us of struggle to find abundance”
The teacher did not bat an eye and just responded “if you want abundance financially clear your mother issues” (she meant us all)
…this got me thinking …me mother issues…well mhhh and it struck me, my struggle with weight – her struggle with weight – my grandmothers struggle with weight – my great-grandmothers struggle with weight…possible a pattern other than genetics? I made myself look in the mirror and in my minds eye see my mother behind me and hers behind her etc. and realized as much as I fight to be different – I am exactly like my mother bones and all and when I see my body and feel a certain kind of shame – I remember the same kind of shame as a child around my mother, from my mother, for my mother and it hits me. Am I loving my mother through solidarity with weight? Is part of me doing penance for the shame of my foremothers by “wearing” it on my body…
With this thought I turned around and faced my imaginary mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the other unknown women in my ancestry and declared
My adoration for their hard lives, my pride for women who worked every day of their lives until death took them and also my willingness to see patterns I have carried forward through them that are hurtful, hard and heavy. I bowed in front of them and declared – you gave me enough and I will honor and love you all in a different way, I will accept all the gifts from you through my mother to me in an abundant way – and I will make it better as a gift for you – I will leave shame where it belonged and pick up the gifts from you – the herbalist and understanding of “brews” from my great-grandmother, the “healing touch” from my grandmother and
The never-ending need for knowledge from my mother and I will add an abundance of joy to the mix. I bowed again and just said YES to all.
When I then turned around to look again in the mirror, I saw not shame, just
Abundance of possibilities, creations ready to be birthed and stories to be shared.
I wonder as I keep the insight of only taking what is mine (and shame is not part of it) what my body will look like in a year from now and how I will learn to love my mother in a different way – not out of the need of a child to be loyal to suffering…
It feels good to feel the weight of women’s wisdom in my back and not the weight of women’s bodies. I am proud to stand in front and look friendly upon my daughter without her having to pick up THAT pattern.

What is your Currency?

What is your Currency?

People from all walks of life come to me with the same call for help: “help me find my motivation...or help my child be more motivated” etc.
The truth is that motivation comes at a certain amount of being inspired - Inspira-tion comes from having an idea of what would be desirable and Motivation comes from the unconscious mind saying yes to it.
Now the inspiration part comes easily to us, the motivation part needs to be “paid of”. The payment that works for each of us is different, we all have different cur-rency to pay our unconscious guard that stands in the front of the room with the motivator inside.
In my experience once a person finds his or her currency and starts to pay off the guard, motivation is freely available.
Some people who read this have a reaction to the words written above...it looks like bribery to them...especially if I open this concept to them to work with their children or a partner...what they don't understand is the way our brain works...its not the carrot and the stick theory, but real understanding of how the brain of the child, the partner, or oneself learns.

Lets see if you have been trying to motivate your partner to empty the dishwasher as part of his duties in the partnership, and he or she is not “remembering from one day to another”, you know one thing for sure - you don't know the currency of your partner.
Once the unconscious is motivated, there is never a question of action, if there is no motivation, the action is inconsistent, is depended on pleading, arguing, beating oneself up and other extremely tiring ways of trying to control the environment.
The currency that will pay the guard is as different as there are people in this world, we are all unique and only what our motivator knows will work for us. So what do you think what your currency is?
Is it space, time for a good book, painting, coffee, work, no work, singing, shouting, time with friends, time with dad or mom or child ...., walks, your dog or cat...jewelry, alcohol, yoga....
so your partner asks you to accept emptying the dishwasher as part of your “share” and you are really not motivated” (or interested in or care about....) - your question here is what is your currency to “pay” yourself for the effort to do your part in the relationship...
So instead of asking how can I get motivated, ask yourself what is my currency and am I paying myself or my parter or my child ...or my employee....with the right amount?...well if inspiration leads to motivation chances are that you ARE.
If you have any issues with procrastination, non motivation and other issues along this line, have a session with Margit.
